Usually three pieces: a bottom you trust, a top that needs no adjusting, and one thing that makes it look deliberate rather than accidental. A pair of earrings, a bag, a clip. The real test is whether you would still be comfortable in it at six in the evening, because most days do not end when you thought they would.

Change one variable, not all three. If the jeans and the tee are the constant, the interesting part is the third piece, and rotating one piece costs a fraction of rotating an outfit. Everyday pieces get worn and washed far more than anything else you own, so read the fabric note on the product page; a cotton tee and a rayon one behave differently after a month of that.
