Skorts
A skort is a pair of shorts with a skirt panel over the front, so it reads like a mini and moves like shorts. Ours run mini length in denim, suede and stretch knit, from Free People, Lucy In The Sky and our own Miss Behavin' Label. New styles land often and every order ships nationwide.
What is a skort, and how is it different from a skirt?
A skort is shorts with a skirt panel sewn over the front, sometimes wrapped and sometimes pleated. From the front it looks like a mini skirt. Underneath it is a pair of shorts, so nothing rides up and nothing needs holding down. A skirt is a single layer with nothing beneath it. That one structural difference is the whole appeal: you get the line of a mini without spending the evening thinking about it. It is also why skorts turn up in tennis and golf ranges as well as fashion ones. Ours are the fashion kind, cut short and made to be worn out rather than played in.
What do you wear with a skort?
Almost anything you would wear with a mini, and a few things you would not. A cropped top and sneakers is the easiest version and the one you will reach for most. A fitted bodysuit and boots takes it out at night. Because the shorts do the work underneath, a skort handles a bike, a beer garden and a long table better than a skirt does, so it earns its place on a packing list. Denim skorts sit with almost everything. Suede and stretch knit want a simpler top so the texture reads.
When is a skort a better call than a skirt?
Anywhere you will be moving, sitting on something low, or outdoors. Festivals, country concerts, day drinking, travel days, a boat, a dog, a bike. The skirt panel keeps the look and the shorts remove the maintenance. It is also the more forgiving pick for a long day that starts in daylight and ends somewhere darker, because you are not managing hemline in a crowd. If you are sitting still at a dinner or a wedding, a skirt is fine and often better. If the day has a plan, take the skort.
Three skort outfits we would actually wear
Country concert. Denim skort, a fitted white tank, and boots. Add a belt with some hardware and a small cross body so your hands stay free. This is the outfit that gets asked about in store more than any other.
Beach day into dinner. Suede or stretch knit skort over a bikini top, sandals, oversized shirt open on top. Swap the sandals for a heel and lose the shirt when the sun goes.
Everyday, done properly. Skort, cropped knit, white sneakers, gold jewelry. Five minutes, and it reads more considered than the jeans it replaced.
What to know before you order
Skorts run short by design, so check the length on each product page rather than assuming. Sizes vary by label, run carried, and whether it differs between the Miss Behavin' Label and the branded lines]. Free People and Lucy In The Sky pieces follow their own house sizing. If you are between sizes or unsure, message us and we will pull it off the rack and tell you what we see.
